Physical Education

Welcome to Physical Education!

In the Puyallup School District, all students receive physical education.

In grades K-3, a student’s teacher provides physical education for their students.

From grades 4-6, however, students have a specialist for PE. They receive physical education twice a week for ½ hour.

Meet Your Teacher

Hello, my name is Dan Rowe. I’ve been teaching in the Puyallup School District for 10 years. My first nine years were at Shaw Road Elementary as a 5th grade teacher.  Then last year I made the move to physical education and came to Brouillet. I love teaching PE, and you will often find me running and playing with the kids as we get involved in activities. I have two children who live locally and attended Puyallup schools, as well as two grandkids under five.

What Will Students Learn?

Here, they learn and practice a wide range of skills and abilities. They will learn physical skills such as catching, throwing, balance, physical endurance and fitness. They will also learn about nutrition as it relates to their health. They will learn the types of foods that make a balanced diet, and the types of food should be eaten in moderation.

It’s been said that play is a child’s work. In PE students will learn social skills such as leadership, teamwork, sharing, and inclusion. They will also have opportunities to practice self-control, patience, and  self-regulation when emotions run high. All of this will take place in an environment that strives to be fun and uplifting.
